FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

A suspect who allegedly robbed a jewelry store during his trial knew what he was doing because it wasn't the first time he stole from the store, according to authorities.

Three years ago, someone broke into Walton's Antique Jewelry in Franklin and got away with thousands of dollars in jewelry but left evidence behind.

In 2012, Mark Burgin was on trial for armed robbery in Franklin.

Burgin allegedly went to Walton's and stole some pricey jewels.

He was arrested for the theft, and he's now been linked to that earlier crime at the same store.

Walton's has put new security procedures in place since the burglaries.
