1 shot espresso
1 Tablespoon caramel sauce (recipe below)
1 Tablespoon hot chocolate mix
1/2 cup heated soy milk or milk
tiny pinch of sea salt (less than 1/8 teaspoon)
whipped cream for topping
caramel sauce to drizzle for topping
mixture of sea salt and sugar for topping
Place caramel sauce, hot chocolate, and pinch of sea salt in your mug. Stir well to combine flavors, making a paste. Add espresso and heated soy milk (or milk) then top with whipped cream. Drizzle caramel sauce on top, then add another tiny pinch of sea salt that you have mixed with sugar.
AIMEE FORTNEY'S WHIPPED CREAM
1 cup heavy cream
3 Tablespoons sugar
To make homemade whipped cream, with a whisk or hand mixer, beat heavy cream. (Always start with a cold bowl and beaters that you have placed in the freezer) Add sugar then whisk or beat until desired consistency for whipped cream. Set aside to top beverages or keep in your refrigerator in an air-tight container.
AIMEE FORTNEY'S CARAMEL SAUCE
1 stick of butter
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and whipping cream, and cook over low heat until smooth, whisking to combine. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. If desired, you may add 1/4 teaspoon sea salt to this mixture, and withhold it from the other steps in the latte, except for the topping.
