UPDATE: EPB cuts prices, raise speeds for customers

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

EPB continued to build upon the agency's success Tuesday, by announcing several changes to the city-owned utility's network speeds and prices.

Customers currently with a 50 Mbps connection will be upgraded to 100 Mbps. Those with 100 and 250 Mbps connectivity will be upgraded to 1,000 Mbps, or a gigabit connection.

No EPB customer will have a network connection slower than 100 Mbps, which EPB says is 15-times faster than the national average.

The new price for the gigabit connection is now $69.99, down significantly from the previous price of $350 per month.

In a news release, EPB cites the price reductions for customers with 250 Mbps connections at $70 less per month; Gig customers will save $230 per month.

Business customers will also enjoy the speed increases as well.

The conversions for customer began Monday evening, and will continue to the beginning of October.
