WKU student charged with murder of classmate

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A Western Kentucky University student has been charged with murder in the death of a classmate during what police say was a robbery gone wrong.

Bowling Green police arrested 21-year-old Dominique Leshay Wortham in the death of Larry Wayne Thomas Jr.

The Daily News reported (http://bit.ly/1bf4bPP ) that Thomas was shot in the chest at his apartment on the night of Sept. 2 and died a few hours later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Thomas was attending WKU on a scholarship. He was a graduate of Ballard High School in Louisville.

Wortham is being held on $1 million bond in Warren County Regional Jail. No attorney was listed. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

    Police responded to a shooting at the Edgehill Homes apartment complex near 12 Ave South around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Four male teens were non-critically injured after exchanging gunfire with other individuals in a car. It is unknown at this time how many people were in the car, and if any were injured.
