Police said they are investigating a shooting that left two men dead in the Northland on Saturday afternoon as a murder/suicide.
About 5 p.m. Saturday police took down the crime scene tape roping off the Northland Passage Apartments complex near 64th Street and North London Avenue. The area is just off of Interstate 29.
Investigators are looking into an apartment where two men were shot to death and a woman was injured.
Kansas City, MO, police said the shooting happened about 1 p.m.
Days later, police identified the two men. They said the victim is 49-year-old Michael W. Ard and the suspect is 51-year-old Kevin W. Longnecker.
They said the woman's injuries are not serious, and she's expected to be OK. Police interviewed her to find out more about what happened inside the apartment.
Police believe the people involved all knew each other, and it may have been some kind of domestic dispute.
"It's a little unnerving to know that something like this happened where I live, but at the same time, I mean living in an apartment complex like this, you just really don't know who your neighbors are or what activities they're involved in. So it's really hard to say what could potentially take place," said neighbor Alexis Kimmi.
The tight quarters in an apartment complex raises the risk that a bystander could be injured, but police said they haven't found any signs that any bullets left the apartment. No one else was hurt.
