NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Emergency crews were called Thursday evening to McGavock High School after the school received a threat in an email message.

Officials said the threat was made to the school, located in the 3100 block of McGavock Pike, about 5:45 p.m.

A spokeswoman for Metro Nashville Public Schools said the school had an open house event scheduled for later in the evening, but everyone was sent home early due to the threat.

Officers did a sweep of the school, and nothing suspicious was found. Extra security will be at the school overnight and into the morning Friday, and school is still on as scheduled.

At this point, investigators are trying to determine who sent the email. Investigators have not released information on any suspects in the case or what type of charges they may face as a result of the threat.
