NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A North Baltimore police officer has been reprimanded after he publicly yelled at a woman for leaving her child in the car.

According the complaint the woman filed with the police department, she left her 2-year-old son in a car outside a grocery store while she ran inside to get a can of beef. The report says she left the air conditioner on and was only in the store for two minutes. She heard her name being called over the store intercom.

When she walked outside, the report says an officer started screaming at her. Police Chief Allen Baer says the woman said she felt scared and belittled because of the officer's actions.

"He was held accountable for his actions," Baer said. "He was above the level in which he should have been."

Baer says incidents like this don't happen often, but he says the officer was given proper guidance and the chief doesn't foresee anything like this happening again.
