Chattanooga FC Academy helps Howard School start girls soccer

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Girls varsity soccer is now part of Chattanooga's Howard High School after years without the sport.

The Chattanooga FC and Chattanooga FC Academy announced the new team on its web site, saying the club is working to grow soccer participation in Chattanooga. CFC helped to connect Howard High School to people and resources necessary to help them start the first girl's varsity soccer team in years.

Coach Erica Vaughn said,"The inaugural girls soccer team at Howard is off to a great start. We have an amazing group with a willingness to learn the sport. The coaching staff is excited for the opportunity to develop a community for these girls at Howard where they are valued and loved just for being themselves."

"It is very important to Chattanooga FC to continue to grow the sport of soccer," said Krue Brock, part of the leadership team.

"Creating opportunities for kids to experience the world's game is a great tool for growing our community — from a fitness perspective, from a teamwork perspective and from a self-image perspective. We are so honored that we were able to be a help to Howard, if only in a small way."

The CFC Academy also offers competitive travel soccer for Chattanooga's youth players who want additional development. Information on joining the club is available if you click here. Boys and girls teams are available from U8 through U18.
