Restitution made on 11 year old crime

Somboon Wu, "It's amazing, it's inspirational really. For someone to come back and face the person you've done wrong. Even though its hard sometimes we need to give people a second chance."
For 19 years, Somboon Wu's family has been building a loyal customer base here at the Interasian Market and Deli on Nolensville Pike.
But in all those good years of hard work Wu says he'll always remember a scary night eleven years ago when his father was robbed at gunpoint.

Somboon Wu, "I don't think most people forget if they get robbed. My dad definitely didn't forget it."

Wu never thought he'd face the man who robbed his father, until a stranger arrived at the market this week, dropped off an envelope and left.

Somboon Wu, "He was really insistent that we take this.  That we have to take this."

Inside was a handwritten letter by a man claiming to be a drug addict who eleven years ago came in, picked up a six pack of beer and when the register opened robbed the store of $300 at gunpoint.

Enclosed with the letter was $300 and the message,  "I do not use drugs anymore and I feel I must make amends to the people I have hurt in the past."

Somboon Wu, "My dad, my dad couldn't believe it.  Obviously he's got a great heart, he just got caught up in a bad situation."

Wu's family has also posted their acceptance of the apology on Instagram and Twitter.
Wu says in his posts this man's actions are a reminder there are plenty of good people in the world.
