Dragon Boat Festival takes over the Cumberland

Posted: Updated:

Nashville's Dragon Boat Festival attracted a lot of visitors to Riverfront Park Saturday afternoon.

The festival was held to raise money and awareness to keep the Cumberland River clean.

The "Oars of Babylon" team carried their drummer, "Cleopatra" into the event, to help their paddlers keep a steady pace.

The team felt they did well competing for the first time in the competition.

"We went up against some of the top teams from last year and we finished just a couple of seconds behind them so we're feeling pretty good about it," said Nathan Jones, one of the team members.

The "Oars of Babylon" were one of 40 teams, and 1,000 paddlers that participated in the race this year.

This was the Dragon Boat Festival's 7th year in Nashville.
