Posted: Updated:

Officials say a 22-year-old Nashville man has drowned at Burgess Falls State Park on Monday.

Putnam County Sheriff David Andrews said Abdulah Amsabil was swimming at the bottom of the main falls with his family members when he went under and never resurfaced.

The man's body was recovered after a search by crews from Putnam and White counties.

The Labor Day holiday weekend has been a deadly one on Middle Tennessee lakes and rivers. A 39-year-old LaVergne man died after a boating accident Sunday at Percy Priest Lake, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency.

And an 18-year-old Smyrna High School senior has died after drowning Monday near the Walter Hill dam on the Stones River in Rutherford County.
