TSU to enforce NFL's bag restrictions for games at LP Field

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

There has been a lot of talk about the NFL's new rules about what spectators can and can't take into football stadiums, and it seems many college football teams are following suit.

Tennessee State University, which plays its home games at LP Field, announced it will follow the NFL's new rules limiting the size of bags brought into the stadium, so fans have to leave the big purses, camera bags and backpacks at home.

Only small clutch-style purses or clear plastic bags are allowed inside.

"We are a tenant there, so we have to follow the same rules and regulations, just as any Titans fan. Our TSU Tigers fans have to follow the same rules," said TSU spokesman Rick DelaHaya.

The new guidelines are intended to increase security and speed up the security screening process.

TSU opens its season against Bethune-Cookman on Sunday at 7 p.m.

School officials at the University of Tennessee announced Tuesday that Vols fans will no longer be allowed to bring backbacks to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville due to safety concerns.
