Country star Chris Young recovering after serious infection

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country star Chris Young visited Nashville on Wednesday and talked about a big health scare that had him rushed to a hospital while on tour.

Young, a Murfreesboro native, contracted a serious leg infection earlier this month in Colorado while on his way to a concert.

"I had a small cut on my leg. I thought I was fine and was healing up. But I randomly got a bacterial infection, and there's really nothing I could have done, not done," Young said.

He was placed in intensive care and scared the doctors.

"My blood pressure was dropping so fast, and they had to put me on three medications, one of which is the strongest one they can give you. They were like, 'We've got to put you in now. We're kind of concerned about organ failure.' So that's something you never want to hear when you're in the hospital," Young said.

He's feeling much better now, and is heading to the west coast this weekend to be the opening act on Brad Paisley's tour.

"Great hospital, great doctors, great staff. They got me in there and taken care of, and now I'm fine," Young said.

Young's new album, A.M., is due out Sept. 17.
