Chef Paulette's Affogato: Espresso Coffee, Gelato & Whipped Cream Dessert

Ingredients 

Serves 4-6

1 ½ cups espresso coffee *

1 pint vanilla gelato or ice cream

1 cup heavy cream

¼ cup sugar

*to make espresso coffee on the stove top with an Italian "moka" espresso pot:

Unscrew the top from the bottom. Take out metal filter from bottom half. Fill the bottom with cold water up to the steam hole. Replace metal filter. Fill filter with ground espresso coffee, screw top on tightly. Place pot on medium high heat on gas or electric stove. Heat until water "expresses" up to top and fills with fragrant espresso coffee…about 4-5 minutes.

Whip the cream to soft peaks. Add the sugar. Whip cream to stiff peaks.

Scoop ice cream into coffee cups. Pour about a ¼ cup of coffee on top. Add a dollop of whipped cream. Serve immediately. Eat with a small spoon.
