Middle TN flood victims eligible for federal assistance

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The federal government has declared a disaster in Middle Tennessee after the flash flooding earlier this month, Gov. Bill Haslam announced Monday.

This declaration by the U.S. Small Business Administration will mean a lot to flood victims, who are now eligible for low-interest federal loans to repair the damage left by all that water.

Folks have until the end of October to apply for assistance for physical damage and until May 2014 to apply for assistance for economic injuries.

This declaration covers Nashville, plus parts of Cheatham, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties affected by the flooding.

SBA's customer service representatives are available at the Disaster Loan Outreach Center to answer questions about the disaster loan program and help individuals complete their applications.

The center is located in Nashville at the Hartman Regional Community Center, 2801 Tucker Road.

It will be open Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 7. The center will be closed Sunday, Sept. 8.
