A semi-truck crash brought traffic to a standstill on I-40 overnight Monday.
Crews were forced to shut down I-40 East after a truck went barreling through a construction zone and burst into flames.
The wreck happened on I-40 East near Beckwith Road between Lebanon and Mount Juliet.
Police said the semi-truck driver, who was hauling produce, fell asleep at the wheel where the interstate had been reduced to one lane because of road work.
The truck hit a retaining wall and crashed. There wasn't anyone working in the construction area at the time.
The driver was able to escape with minor injuries.
One lane was open on I-40 East just after 4 a.m. The second lane in the construction area was expected to be open by 5 a.m.
