Many veterans have trouble adjusting to civilian live, and even finding jobs after they come home.
David Jungquist has served in the army since 1988 and is retiring this year.
He found a job at a Hiring Our Heroes job fair last year and works for Tennessee's Veterans Affairs Department.
He's watched other veterans struggle to find work and said they have a lot to offer employers.
"In the military, all service branches have a wealth of positions to serve in and what you serve in the military, it can be translated to the civilian side," said Jungquist. "We have to equip the veteran on how to best communicate that to the employer."
The Hiring Our Heroes job fair is happening Tuesday at Hotel Preston on Briley Parkway.
A free transition workshop opens to veterans and spouses at 9 a.m. The job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
