MT. JULIET, TN (WSMV) -

A six-hour standoff with a man wanted by Metro Police ended when Mount Juliet police captured him in the crawl space beneath his home.

Police said Brian Crafton, 33, of Primm Springs, TN, was wanted by Nashville police for felony probation violations. He barricaded himself in his ex-wife's home around 4 p.m. on Meadowview Drive and refused to come out.

Police spotted him near the home around 4 p.m. Crafton saw the officers and he quickly went inside the home.

Crafton's ex-wife and two children were safely removed from the home during the standoff.

Police deployed gas canisters to force Crafton out of the home. Police took him into custody when he was found exiting the crawlspace underneath the home.

Authorities said Crafton was initially hiding in the attic of the home, but broke through the floor to gain access to the crawlspace to further evade officers.

"I'm thankful that our officers were able to successfully apprehend Mr. Crafton," said Mount Juliet Police Chief James Hambrick in a news release. "Officers were diligent and worked hard to make a successful arrest.

Crafton was on probation for aggravated assault with a weapon. He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

He will eventually be transferred back to Davidson County to face three felony probation violation charges.
