Norovirus detected in Robertson Co. illnesses

Posted: Updated:
GREENBRIER, TN (WSMV) -

The Tennessee Department of Health says it has confirmed cases of norovirus in Robertson County, where more than 100 people have reported feeling ill this week.

The cases began when a business ordered sandwiches from a local chain restaurant for workers at Greenbrier Elementary, Middle and High schools, the school district said Thursday.

The food might have been contaminated, but the exact source has not been determined.

No students were ill, but others in the community may have eaten from the same place.

Details on the restaurant involved have not yet been released by the Tennessee Department of Health, and health officials say the exact number of norovirus cases has not been determined.

However, the health department said there is no indication of ongoing transmission of the virus in the community.
