ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is expected to make what could be a significant announcement regarding plans to build a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons in the city's downtown area.
WAGA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/19KjqQg) that the announcement is expected sometime Tuesday morning, though it's not clear exactly what the mayor will reveal.
City and state officials have been negotiating for land and considering two possible sites -- one just south of the Georgia Dome and one to the north of it.
After negotiations with two churches at the south site stalled, state officials said they were turning their attention to the north site for the $1 billion retractable-roof stadium.
