The soldiers of the 1st Brigade Combat Team were greeted by cheers and applause as they stepped off a plane early Sunday.

Hundreds of friends and family members lined up to welcome them home from Afghanistan.

"It's a weird feeling," said Ashley Willard.  "You're just so excited.  You have so many emotions.  You want to cry, you want to laugh.  You want to jump up and down."

"I just wanted to kiss her," said husband, Capt. Alex Willard.

More than 300 soldiers arrived at the army post at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

After months in Afghanistan, many plan to relax.

"There may be some drinks involved," said Capt. Willard.
