GOODLETTSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Their run to the Little League World Series title game last summer captured the nation's attention, and now the reigning U.S. champion team from Goodlettsville is reloading with a new ace.

It was hard not to get excited about the Goodlettsville All Stars, and their run to the final game of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. That crop of players has moved on, and a new one looks just as good.

The team gathered to toss around baseballs Wednesday outside Fire Station 25, where one of the great managers in youth baseball works.

Fireman and team manager Joey Hale helped lead the Moss Wright Bombers to the top, and he might just do it again with the same formula.

The players are 10 and 11 years old, so they can't go to the World Series this year, but they are being groomed for next year's run to Williamsport.

Hale did the same two-year management with last year's championship team, which received accolades from local and state government leaders, and even served as the Titan's honorary 12th Man at a home game last fall.

And when opposing batters step up to the plate, they will be seeing something different staring down from the pitcher's mound.

Goodlettsville's star pitcher is a girl, and she brings the heat.

Kailey Brown is a cousin of last year's star centerfielder Jason Brown, and she just loves spending all her time around 10 and 11-year-old boys.

"No! No, no that's not it at all," she said.

OK, what she really loves is striking them out.

"Yes, sir," Kailey Brown said.

The Goodlettsville All Stars are state champions, and are heading for the southeastern regional this weekend in Greenville, NC.
