ELKTON, KY (WSMV) -

No injuries were reported after a small plane had to make an emergency landing Tuesday morning near Elkton, KY.

Kentucky State Police said the plane, a 1946 Aeronca model 7AC, was traveling from Florida to Iowa, when it experienced some sort of mechanical trouble.

The pilot, Roger L. Pointer, 69, of Maxwell, IA, attempted to land on KY 181 near Liberty Road, but the plane then skidded into a nearby field.

Pointer and passenger Michael D. Callison, 52, of Des Moines, IA, were able to walk away unhurt, KSP said.
