Volunteers work to give Soddy Daisy High School a new look

Posted: Updated:

One stroke and one coat of paint at a time Soddy Daisy High School is slowly but surely getting a new look.

Built 30 years ago the building has yet to get a major renovation. On the school's anniversary Principal Danny Gilbert is making good on his promise to clean it up with the help of volunteers.

Students, parents and teachers gathered at the high school Saturday to begin work. Most of the supplies were purchased with donations from county officials and Lowe's.

While it may not be the renovation the building needs Gilbert says it's a step in the right direction.

"As far as this type of renovation, I'd say this is probably the first where we're bringing the community in and really doing a lot," Gilbert says.

He says they have a lot of goals for the schools new look and it will take some time to get there. However, Gilbert does appreciate all of the volunteers who helped this weekend.
