Crews battle fire at Fairview industrial park

Posted: Updated:

Williamson County crews battled a industrial fire fueled by printer ink Saturday morning.

Crews were called out just after 7 a.m. to the Evergreen Industrial Park on Highway 96 near I-40. By 9:15 a.m., dispatchers said firefighters were working to put out hotspots at the scene.

Officials said Custom Printing Inks LLC on Loblolly Pine Boulevard was damaged. It's not yet clear how the fire started.

A Hazmat unit from Franklin was also called, because of the chemicals involved in the fire. Firefighters said exotic ink and polar solvent were among the chemicals inside.

There were no reports of injuries.

It's the second fire in that area in the past month. A chemical tank caught fire at Fairview Asphalt Products on June 21, sending flames and thick smoke into the air.

The plant wasn't operating at the time, but emergency crews shut down Highway 96, and evacuated several homes for hours.
