People who qualify for Section 8 housing can apply now, and there's something different about the application this year.
For the first time, the process is entirely online.
That means no more long waits in line, as people can apply from home, on their smartphone or by using the computers at Nashville Public Library branches.
Of course, you can still apply in person at the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency training center, located at 1419 Rosa Parks Blvd., and officials said more than 2,000 people have already applied.
"Section 8 housing choice vouchers are for people who are working - they're making money - but the economy's been very tough and market prices are a lot higher than they used to be, so the housing voucher gives people the opportunity to live in different areas of the community. They can select where they want to live, but this helps defray the market costs for those working people," said MDHA spokeswoman Holly McCall.
