Pharmacist beats would be robber with pipe

A pharmacist beat a would be robber with a metal pipe Thursday night.

Police say the accused robber, 47-year-old Thomas Holland, attempted to rob the CVS Pharmacy on Hixson Pike around 5:20 Thursday evening.

The pharmacist, Tom Rawls, says Holland showed a gun and forced his way inside the pharmacy. He demanded pills and told Rawls to drive him away.

Rawls picked up a metal pipe and subdued Holland until police arrived.

Holland was taken into custody and treated at the hospital for minor injuries. He was charged with aggravated robbery.
