Four men were injured after an exchange of gunfire led to a car crash Tuesday afternoon in the Bordeaux area.
Officers were called after 4 p.m. to Buena Vista Pike near Moormans Arm Road, where a Pontiac Bonneville driven by Darryn Carter, 18, had crashed into a ditch and struck a telephone pole.
Police say there had been an exchange of gunfire between the occupants in the Bonneville and those in a nearby Chrysler 300 before the crash, and the Chrysler then drove away.
Carter and three other passengers - Emmanuel Webb and Richard Jackson, both 19, along with 18-year-old Charles Keith Williams - were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries related to the crash.
Police previously believed Williams had been shot in the head during the gun battle, but doctors later determined his head injuries to be related to the crash.
Witnesses at a nearby barber shop said they heard 12 to 15 shots fired.
Police later recovered a handgun that had been hidden by passengers in the Bonneville.
No other information has been released, including details on the people in the Chrysler.
Police said they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting.
