Maury Co. could increase property taxes by 16 cents

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -

It could get more expensive to own property in Maury County, as a committee is recommending hiking taxes by 16 cents next year.

The money will be used to help balance the budget and to start borrowing funds to rebuild Columbia Center High School.

The hike translates to an extra $40 a year on a $100,000 home.

The full commission was supposed to decide on the issue Monday morning but deferred the vote.
