Nashville scoreboard strikes sweet note with team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -

The giant guitar that serves as the scoreboard for the Nashville Sounds baseball team is still striking sweet notes with fans and players after 20 years in action.

The distinct scoreboard behind left-center field stretches nearly 117 feet in width including the guitar body and neck. It has a clever display of statistical information -- inning-by-inning score on the neck -- and has become one of the most popular scoreboards in minor league baseball since it went up before the 1993 season.

Whether it harmonizes with plans by the Sounds for a new ballpark remains to be seen.

Oak Ridge Boys member and minority owner of the team Richard Sterban told The Tennessean the scoreboard is a symbol of the city and should go wherever the Sounds end up.
