Predators sign first-round draft pick Seth Jones

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators have signed first-round draft pick Seth Jones to a 3-year entry level contract.

Jones finalized a deal Wednesday that awards him a base salary of $925,000. Maximum rookie contract signing bonuses give him a salary cup number of $3.2 million.

The Predators selected Jones on June 30 with the fourth overall pick in the draft. NHL Central Scouting ranked the 18-year-old defenseman as the No. 1 North American skater available in the draft.

Jones said in a team release that "since being drafted by the Predators and coming to development camp, I'm certain this is the right spot and right organization for me."

Jones had 14 goals and 42 assists for Portland of the Western Hockey League this past season.
