Howard's Walters to play basketball at Walters State

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Brandon Walters had not one, but two important decisions to make regarding his college future.

This week the Howard High two-sport star finalized both.

Walters will play basketball next season at Walters State, a junior college in Morristown, Tenn.

The 6-foot-9, 280-pound center has been one of the area's most dominant prep players over the past three seasons, but upped his game on the hardwood last year.

As a senior, Walters averaged nearly 20 points per game and added team-highs in rebounds and blocks while leading the Hustlin' Tigers to the Class AA state semifinals and a 28-6 overall record.

Walters had emerged as a highly-recruited lineman on the gridiron the past two years, as well. He earned all-state honors and was named a finalist for the Class AA Mr. Football Lineman of the Year award as a two-way starter for Howard as a senior.
