NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Nashville singer is looking to make a major comeback, but it's not the kind of comeback you usually hear about.

Ticia Miller is making a comeback from a heart attack and a stroke.

Miller knows her songs, when sung full blast, can cover every part of the emotional trail.

"Sometimes they'll make you cry," said Miller. "Sometimes they'll make you want to get a Margarita."

Miller was quiet and shy growing up until a song and stage changed her.

"I hated recess. I knew that meant I'd have to go out and socialize," said Miller. Then I sang Amazing Grace, and the sound bounced off the wall. That is really cool."

Miller knew then her life would be music, and it was, trained in opera at Julliard, then a career on the stage.

But seven years ago, it all went away.

"I had a heart attack and a stroke a week later," said Miller.

It left her unable to talk, sing, move her arm or think clearly.

"I used to be able to play piano, mandolin, banjo and guitar," said Miller.

Now after seven years recovering, she's singing again. Her voice had changed and she's scared.

"I think I'm really afraid to give it another shot," said Miller. "I have lost so much of my identity as a human being to have someone say you can't do that anymore."

Now they can't say it. She has a new record out.

She is not sure how it will go, but always fought for this day of song to come.

"Well it's the next step," said Miller. "What's the next step? The next step for me is the music."

Miller has a variety of musical plans in her future, which include some music teaching as well as performing some shows in Las Vegas.

She also works closely with the National Stroke Association to help raise awareness.
