Posted: Updated:

Metro police say it's been a very quiet year for homicides in Nashville.

The city's murder rate is the lowest it's been since the creation of the stat in 1963, according to a report in the City Paper.

There have been 19 murders in Nashville this year, which is eight less than at this same time in 2012.

In 2011, there were 51 homicides, which was the lowest number since 1966.
