Your weight decides your seat on one airline

Posted: Updated:

Flying on one carrier will now involve putting *yourself* on a scale.

Samoa Air has now introduced extra large seats for people who weigh more than about 290 pounds.

Customers are weighed in at the check-in counter.

Samoa Air claims it's the world's first carrier to charge passengers by their weight rather than per seat.

The new service has extended rows by 12 to 14 inches, giving larger passengers more room.

The airline officially faced criticism over its move but insists it's looking after its bigger customers.
