NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Nashville General Hospital was on lockdown for more than an hour Thursday evening after a man claimed to have a suspicious substance in his possession.

Officers were dispatched about 5:30 p.m. after a man entered the hospital claiming to have anthrax before throwing the substance on the ground indoors. He was soon arrested, police said.

Hazmat teams checked the substance and the rest of the building and said it was found not to be a danger to anybody.

The lockdown was lifted just before 7 p.m.

The name of the suspect or information on what he had in his possession have not been released.
