BEREA, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are trying to determine what caused a house fire in central Kentucky and whether it is related to the disappearance of a teenager.
Troopers say 18-year-old Brookelyn Farthing was last seen at a home on Saturday in Berea. That house burned down Saturday morning.
Madison County Fire Department Sgt. Harvey Baxter told WLEX-TV in Lexington investigators are treating the two incidents as separate for the moment. The family of Farthing, however, believes the two are related.
Baxter says Farthing will be entered into the police computer system and "hopefully she'll show up."
Witnesses told troopers the teen was last seen at a home.
Trooper say Farthing did not live at the house. The person who does live in the home gave a statement to investigators.
