DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -

Firefighters in Dickson said a resident has died after an apartment complex fire on Blurton Drive on Friday night.

Investigators said the fire started in the kitchen near the stove around 10 p.m., but the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The apartment suffered heavy damage, and smoke even spread to nearby units.

One victim was rescued from the apartment and taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. That victim, a man who resided at the apartments, died, firefighters said. His name has not been released.

The person's remains are at the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

American Red Cross workers are aiding four families who were displaced by the fire.
