Pet food recalled, possibly tainted with salmonella

Posted: Updated:

A pet food company is issuing a recall because of a possible health risk to animals and humans.

Nebraska-based Natura Pet Products is recalling specific lots of dry pet food because it might be contaminated with salmonella.

This could affect pets eating the product and humans who've handled the food, especially if they haven't properly washed their hands. A single lot tested positive for Salmonella.

There haven't been any reports of illness during FDA testing.

The FDA said consumers who have purchased the products on the list should discard them. People can call Natura toll-free at 800-224-6123 for more information.
