Heavy rain downs trees, creates localized flooding

Posted: Updated:

A large area of showers that moved across Middle Tennessee overnight created some slow driving conditions early Tuesday morning.

Some of the rainfall was heavy at times, including in Nashville.  A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for southern Middle Tennessee on Tuesday.

There was localized flooding at:

  • Murfreesboro Road and Kermit Drive
  • Charlotte Pike at American Road

If you're traveling and encounter water of unknown depth, turn around and don't drown.

A large limb fell on a Metro Transit Authority bus, which blocked Harding Pike in front of St. Thomas Hospital at 6:30 a.m.  A tree also fell on Rockdale Avenue in south Nashville.

A few power outages have been reported in northern Davidson County near Whites Creek and Joelton.

Isolated showers are possible in the afternoon.
