Man shot several times in head during robbery attempt on Arlington Avenue

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Chattanooga police are investigating an early morning shooting on Arlington Avenue.

At about 3:20 a.m. Chattanooga Police responded to 1103 Arlington Avenue where they found  38year-old Kibwe Din Parks suffering from several gunshot wounds to the head. 

Parks was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is listed in stable condition. 

Police report that two black males attempted to rob Parks when he fought back and they shot him. 

An investigator with the Major Crimes Unit was on the scene with about half a dozen police officers.

One neighbor says she saw EMS crews taking a man out of the apartment on a stretcher. She says he was sitting up and holding his hand over one of his eyes.

Police began breaking down the crime scene at 6 a.m.

Other Shootings

Police were called to a similar incident Sunday at the apartments next door. Police say a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg as he left his apartment at 1101 Arlington Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Another man was also shot in the leg in April in the 1100 block of Arlington Avenue.

    Police are still investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 546 South 6th Street around 11:17 p.m.  A black male in his early 20s was found lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his head.

    An SUV traveling westbound on the I-440 ramp to I-65 North exited the ramp and fell about 60 feet, landing the car on railroad tracks. The Nashville Fire Department confirmed that part of the car landed on a parked train below. The driver was trapped in the car and officials had to free the driver with extraction equipment.
