Pregnant thief attacks mall employee, Murfreesboro police say

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Police said a pregnant woman and an accomplice stole merchandise from a Murfreesboro mall and attacked an employee who tried to stop them.

Two women went into the Stones River Mall recently and took $300 in merchandise, according to a report in the Murfreesboro Post.

When an employee confront the thieves, one of the women, who was pregnant, attacked her.

The employee was grabbed by the throat and pushed to the ground, according to an officer.

The robbers fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows.

The store employee was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

    An SUV traveling westbound on the I-440 ramp to I-65 North exited the ramp and fell about 60 feet, landing the car on railroad tracks. Nashville Fire District Chief Tony Garmon confirmed that part of the car landed on a parked train below. The driver was trapped in the car and officials had to free the driver with extraction equipment.
