NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Recent history with a familiar rival is not an issue for Vanderbilt, not when the Commodores are just two victories away from the program's second College World Series berth.
Standing in the way is Louisville, which starts the best-of-3 NCAA super regional series in Nashville against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Vanderbilt first baseman Conrad Gregor said Friday that everyone is aware of the stakes with the goal since the start of the season reaching Omaha and winning the national title.
These teams have met 11 times in the last six years, with the Commodores winning nine. Louisville eliminated Vanderbilt in the 2009 super regional the last time the Cardinals got this far. Vanderbilt, currently the No. 2 seed overall, beat Louisville in 2010 to advance to its second super regional.
