Friday's recipe (6/7/13) - Aimee Fortney's Iced Coffee and Iced Mocha

Posted: Updated:

No need to wait in line at the coffee shops for your Iced Coffee fix - make your own! You control all of the sugar and sodium; no purchased syrups, etc. Just refrigerate your coffee to chill it, and add your sugar or "mocha" flavorings while it's hot, then you have your iced coffees in the luxury of your own home!

The best way to make your iced coffee is by brewing extra coffee, then refrigerating it! Add your simple syrup and hot chocolate mix to your hot coffee, then chill in a mason jar. When you are ready to enjoy it, pour it over ice, (or even place your coffee in ice trays to have "iced coffee" to it will not dilute) and enjoy!

Brewed espresso or strong coffee
2 Tablespoons simple syrup
2 Tablespoons hot chocolate mix

For iced coffee, if you want to sweeten the coffee, add 1 to 2 Tablespoons of simple syrup to your coffee. Chill. For iced mocha, add 2 Tablespoons of hot chocolate mix to the brewed coffee, stirring to combine and dissolve the hot chocolate. Chill the coffee in the refrigerator until you are ready to enjoy!
