Madison Mason is 6 years old and full of life. Just ask the family pastor.
"Great personality. She's Miss Personality. When we see her on Sunday she comes in, she's bubbly, she's always joking. She's just a girl who is full of life and full of spirit," said Pastor Dale Robble from Highland Park Church in Nashville.
Tonight, Madison isn't doing so well. She's lying in a hospital bed after a really bad accident with the family pet.
Madison's mom was out playing with their German shepherd on Tuesday evening. Madison, fresh out of the shower, came running outside and startled the dog.
The dog whipped around, bit hard, and wouldn't let go.
Madison now has scratches on her face. She's also missing both sides of her scalp.
"It did make me weak at the knees when I saw it," said Robble.
Crews flew Madison by jet from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati where they specialize in reconstruction and where Madison's dad is a board member.
"When I saw the extent of her injuries I knew that this, of any hospital in the world, was where she needed to be," said Madison's dad Tim Mason.
Madison has one surgery down, two more to go, and a long road of recovery ahead.
Her parents say if anyone wants to help, they can make a donation to the Shriner Children's Hospital in Madison Mason's name.
