Goodlettsville restaurant gives percentage of sales to needy

Posted: Updated:

Typically a restaurant earns repeat business based on great food and service, but something else has patrons coming back for more.

Plaza Mexican Bar and Grill in Goodlettsville is making a push to help others a part of their daily routine.

"A percentage of what they spend here goes back to families in need or a church or mission group," said restaurant owner Carmen Angel.

Proceeds are helping members of the community facing tough times.

These so-called "give back nights" are happening almost every night.

The owners said 10 to 15 percent of the money made goes to help people in need, like John Cain, fighting lymphoma, or Teressa Kinn, battling breast cancer.

Angel said this giving back approach is just part of owning a business.

"I believe in the principal of giving. When we are blessing others, it is coming back to us, blessing our family and business," said Angel.

The company isn't shy about their approach to helping others. They want people to think about not only getting a good meal, but also about paying it forward.

Carmen said helping her community is really what this business is all about.

"We wanted to do something different by giving back to the community," said Angel.
