Any way you measure it, this is the biggest week of the year for the country music industry in Nashville.

Thousands of country music fans will attend fan club parties, stadium concerts and pass through the doors of the new Music City Center during the CMA Music Festival.

This is the 42nd annual time country music stars and their fans have met up for a special summer party.

One star is getting an early jump on the festivities. Darius Rucker is hosting his annual Darius and Friends concert Monday evening at the Wildhorse Saloon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Rucker also stopped by the W.O. Smith Music School on Eighth Avenue South, as a mobile exam station for the organization Transitions set up to help young musicians improve their vision.

"A lot of kids don't even know they need glasses until they read music. The music is so small on something so far away, and then they figure out they need glasses. They're getting eye exams, and if they need glasses, Transitions is going to supply the glasses for them," Rucker said.
