Driver charged with DUI in crash that injured cheerleaders

A driver that police said caused a crash that injured two high school cheerleaders is now facing charges.

Roni Proctor, 26, of Cumberland Furnace, TN, has been charged with driving under the influence and two counts of vehicular assault.

The wreck occurred May 16 on Highway 48 when Proctor drifted across the center lane and hit a car driven by 17-year-old Kylie Eastin. Eastin and her passenger, Ashley Travis, 15, were hurt in the crash.

Eastin was discharged from Vanderbilt Medical Center two days after the wreck and graduated from Montgomery Central High School on May 23. Travis remains in critical condition.

Investigators said Proctor was driving drunk at the time of the crash.

Eastin said her goal is get healthy enough so she can cheer at Western Kentucky University.
