Power was knocked out to hundreds of residents in Nashville overnight after a truck slammed into a pole on White Bridge Road.

The crash happened at about 10:50 p.m. Monday near Corbett Lane.

As of 6 a.m., some lanes of White Bridge Road are still shut down as crews work to repair the problem.

Despite the truck being totaled, the driver was not hurt and taken to the Metro Jail.

The driver, Scott Hamrick, is charged with driving under the influence for taking prescription pills.

Witnesses said a fire truck arriving at the scene accidentally caused some extra damage.

"In the meantime, when the emergency services were called, the first fire truck that arrived went right past the address and hit the hanging wire and ripped the rest of the telephone poll out of the ground," said neighbor Jimmy Charlton.

A new pole was installed by 10 a.m. Tuesday.
