A Clarksville chiropractor accused of drinking and driving was observed by officers swerving in and out of lanes of traffic just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to police reports, officers stopped Dr. James D. Davis at the intersection of Dunbar Cave Road and Cave Road at approximately 12:54 a.m.

Officers said when they approached Davis' black Mercedes, the vehicle had an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from it, and the driver's eyes appeared to be bloodshot and watery.

Police conducted field sobriety tests and he performed poorly.

Officers asked Davis twice if he had any alcoholic beverages prior to driving, and he stated that he had some alcohol around 7 p.m. at the Jazz On The Lawn event at Beachaven Winery.

Davis was placed under arrest, at which time police said he refused any blood or breath tests.

Davis was transported to the Montgomery County jail.

According to the police report, while at the magistrate's window, Davis stated that he drank a whole bottle of wine at the Jazz On The Lawn event at Beachaven Winery.

Davis was booked on the charges of driving under the influence and implied consent.

According to the Clarksville United Chiropractic's website, Davis has served patients over 20 years.
